Mokume-gane is Japanese for "wood grain metal". The process has decorated swords for centuries. Thin sheets of different colored metal are layered then welded together to form a single sheet that can be forged, patterned and fabricated into jewelry. Lastly, the jewelry is acid etched and colored with a patina.
Alternating thin layers of 18 karat rose gold and shakudo (a Japanese alloy of 22 karat gold and copper) make rose gold/shakudo Mokume. Shakudo and rose gold are rosy colored metals but a patina has been applied to create a rich brownish purple on the shakudo. Gold does not react to the patina.
Thin layers of palladium white gold and
sterling silver combine for this Mokume metal.
To create the dramatic black and white effects of the two metals a "patina" has been applied.
The white gold is the silver metal in the picture.
Gold does not react to the patina.
The white gold and sterling silver combination without a patina.
This Mokume metal alternates thin layers of yellow and rose gold and sterling silver.
This combination is available with or without a dramatic patina.
Alternating layers of 22 kt yellow gold and sterling silver, here with a patina.
Star pattern is the most uniform pattern we do. There's a repetitive pattern of "starlike" shapes with stripes in between.
The wood pattern can be customized. It has an organic random feeling with little to no repitition.
Dot twist is truly unique to each piece made.
You can ask for more dots than twists or the other way around.
